1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 " For this is the will of God, Your Sanctification; that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to control their body in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust , like the gentiles who do not know God.

Sanctification can be of two types:

1. Positional Sanctification:
Hebrews10:10 says " By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all."

We are positionally holly, Justified by believing in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. But we know that we still sin (1 John1: 8-10)

(Justification = Freedom from the penalty of sin )

2. Progressive Sanctification (Free from the power of sin)

1 Corinthians1: 18 " For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but to us who are being saved is the power of God."

Ephesians2:10 " For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for Good works, which God prepared before hand that we should walk in them."

Philippians1: 6 " Being confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ"

Role of believers in the process of sanctification: ""Two Parties are involved in a person's sanctification: God and Man ""

Ephesians4: 17-24 (The progressive sanctification involves putting of the old self and putting on a new one)

Confession and Accountability
