1917 Remington Bayonet and Scabbard

This is one of the harder-to-find 1917 Bayonets.

This was damaged during a water leak from a " new washer" purchased from Lowe's in Gilroy. long story. I'll mention on another video.

This had active red rust in two layers on every Inch of the blade, and the wooden grips were swollen from excess water. The scabbard was waterlogged and took about two weeks to dry properly.

There will be some continued monitoring and leather preservation for some time.

In about a week I'll remove the grips again and make sure there is no more new rust firming as the grips continue to dry.
