Once in Southern Russia there fought,
Far away in the steppes of the Don.
One brave Estonian Battalion,
Which sang the devil's song!
We were thrown from east to west,
But everywhere we went we stood firm like rocks.
And those swamps in Nevel and Cherkassy,
We will never forget them!
In the shots of our rifles,
You can hear the devil laughing: Ha-Ha-Ha!
As our shots growl,
These lines wont be forgotten,
The lines of who gave everything for Estonia!
One day, time will forget the heroes,
And maybe the battlefields too.
But the wind will tell us stories,
Of soldiers, of bones and of skulls!
There is no return that is meant for us,
If we face defeat.
And Estonia's hope will be in vain,
If the last of us are martyred.
