Basement fires present a unique set of challenges for the First Officer On scene. During the 360 size up, Officers are taught to look basement first, then up. This is to prevent putting Firefighters above fire. If a basement fire is suspected, Officers should consider a transitional attack to reset the fire and an entrance which does not put Firefighters above fire. The front door generally is the worst location to enter and can put Attack teams in danger of falling through the floor.
