Here is the first video in a series of 6 showing highlights of an epic journey we took from Milano Centrale to Siracusa on 3-4th November 2022. This 19hr epic sleeper train journey runs the length of Italy. Uniquely- when the train arrives at the end of mainland Italy, it is shunted onto a train ferry (with you still on it!), sails across the Straits of Messina and then continues to the south of Sicily.
We took a DeLuxe compartment (which was really comfortable) indeed. E403.006 hauled our train whilst it was on Mainland Italy, with an E402b aiding.
The section from Milano to Salerno was at night (the train left at 20:10), so there was no point in videoing the picturesque section between Genova and La Spezia. However, I did film some dramatic station run throughs, as well as most of the station stops. I must admit, I had never been on a sleeper train- I was so excited in getting set up and exploring the train, I totally forget to video! I can thoroughly recommend this as a "great railway journey"!
