We road-tripped 10 1990s cars. Here's what you need for your own trip!

You always wanted to road-trip your old car, right? But weren't sure how to get going? We'll tell you what we did on our own road trip in July ... and give you a list of things to do to plan your own road trip. Just like ours, but different!

WHAT WE DID: We drove 5 obscure 1990s Isuzu cars 1,500 miles round-trip, over 5 days, to hang out with other owners who've become really good friends. We go to Tennessee, work on cars (some), BS (a lot), eat BBQ, drink beer ... and every year, we drive The Snake aka TN Route 421, with 489 curves in 33 miles. This year we took 10 cars, all from 1990 to 1993, through the curves.

WHAT TO THINK ABOUT:
Who are you going with? Find friends / buddies / other old-car weirdos with a sense of adventure
Make sure at least one of you can do basic roadside repairs (better: not-so-basic repairs!)
Bring tools + parts, especially hard-to-find parts known to fail
Bring walkie-talkies + set rules for using them
Practice leading + following, so you don't lose each other in heavy traffic
Make sure everyone's loose enough to roll with the unexpected + have fun ... however it turns out.
