BOOTHILL CEMETERY | Tombstone, Arizona | Contemplation of Life in the Old West

Boothill Cemetery was originally called “City Cemetery” during its early years. It wasn’t until decades later that the name Boothill Cemetery would become the name known today. A lot of cowboys and tough folk were said to “die with their boots on” - hence the name. Today we visited to learn some of the tales.

In this episode, we visit the famous Boothill Graveyard, or Boothill Cemetery, in historic Tombstone, Arizona.

We cover some basic information like pricing that you should know if you ever wish to pay a visit there.

We also tour the graveyard, examining many of the unknown graves. We observe the many graves whose unfortunate permanent residents met their untimely end by being shot or murdered.

We also pay our respects to the graveyard's most famous residents, including Tom and Frank McLaury and Billy Clanton, who were gunned down by the Earps and Doc Holliday at the famous shootout at the OK Corral in October of 1881.

Also on the tour, we show you the final resting place of Marshal Fred White, who was shot by William “Curly Bill” Brocius.

We also explore famous graves such as Lester Moore, whose epitaph reads "Here lies Lester Moore. Four slugs from a 44, no Les, no more." Graves such as this are thought to be fakes, and we ponder blurry lines between old west legend and historical fact.

Boothill is a must-visit anytime you are in Southeast Arizona, or visiting the historical town of Tombstone.
