BUDGET 6 BOLT DSM TIMING COVERS | TRIM FOR 2G MOUNT (6 BOLT SWAP)

What's going on everyone? In this video we are going to talk about another alternative (if you can find it) you might want to consider if you are in the market for a timing cover(s) for a 6 bolt 4g63 block. When my buddy purchased this motor to rebuild, the timing cover was unfortunately not included in the sale... so he said, "ahh screw it, I'll find/order one later." Fast forward to the last few months later... He mentioned the OEM Mitsubishi went up almost double in price and he was only considering just installing the lower cover and engine without the top cover to expose the cam gears anyways.

I took the liberty of looking on the dsm forums and google searched for many different prices from various different vendors. Most of them were past the 100.00 dollar mark and that was simply a little too much just a cover, luckily I found a post on the dsm forums of various member using a HYUNDAI timing cover, YES HYUNDAI. Users on the forums did mention the color was more of a grayish finish vs your OEM Mitsubishi Silver used on the the 6 bolt timing covers. So I did more research and found one particular vendor on eBay that actually had both the top and bottom covers for a decent price (Around $50.00 Shipped!!!). Once I showed the link to my buddy, it was unfortunately too late... they went out of stock FAST. We were pretty bummed out, but still kept looking. Most of the HYUNDAI covers we found were either out of stock or overseas and the seller wanting a ridiculous amount of money for shipping, so that wasn't going to cut it.

We ended up messaging the seller on eBay to see if they were planning on restocking that particular item (2 timing covers) and THEY RESPONDED saying they will be available by the end of the month again (IN MARCH 2021). So me and my buddy checked almost daily, until one particular day BAM.. "IN STOCK". I'm not kidding, within maybe 5 minutes, what ever he had in his inventory was gone... luckily this time, we did not miss out :).
