Germany Christmas Market Attack: Who Is Taleb? Suspected Mastermind Behind Market Attack | Magdeburg


Saudi doctor suspected in Magdeburg Christmas market attack; two dead, over 60 injured. A car plowed into a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, killing two, including a toddler, and injuring over 60. The suspect, Taleb A, a 50-year-old Saudi doctor specializing in psychiatry and psychotherapy, was arrested. Taleb, who moved to Germany in 2006, was granted refugee status in 2016 and holds permanent residency. Authorities suspect the attack was deliberate but have not identified a motive. 'As things stand, he is a lone perpetrator, so that as far as we know, there is no further danger to the city,' said German authorities. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia condemned the attack, expressing solidarity with Germany and condolences to victims’ families, without mentioning the suspect. The incident recalls a 2016 Berlin Christmas market attack where 13 were killed by an Islamic extremist.
