Served in the U.S. Air Force for over 30 years as a pilot, trainer and commander. She retired after serving as the Director of the Air Force Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) Office of the Vice Chief of Staff.
She was command pilot with almost 4,000 flight hours on 9 different aircraft which including the KC-135.
Gen. Woodward was the Commander of the 17th Air Force and U.S. Air Forces Africa and served as Coalition Forces Air Component Commander for Operation Odyssey Dawn where she commanded the opening 11 days of the war against Libya. In 2011, she was named one of Time magazines time 100 most influential people.
