How to Manual Swap an Automatic Toyota MR2 SW20 (1991-1995) | Part 1 of 3

This is part 1 of a three-part guide on how to manual swap an automatic 1991-1995 Toyota MR2 SW20. My 1991 Toyota MR2 is equipped with the 5S-FE engine and had the A241E automatic transmission but now after doing the swap it has an S54 transmission off of a 91 non-turbo Toyota MR2. In this video I do an overview of the majority of parts needed to do the swap. I also show how to replace the automatic shifter assembly and shifter cable to the manual shifter assembly and shifter cables.

I'd like to note that I already had the automatic transmission removed due to removing the engine and transmission to perform a refresh on my engine. You don't have to remove the engine and transmission together to remove the transmission, you can leave the engine supported with an engine support bar and remove the transmission by itself. If you'd like to remove the engine and transmission together to perform work on your engine like I did, I'll link my videos down below on how to remove them. The videos could also serve as a guide even if you're just removing the transmission by itself so feel free to check them out.

Rear transmission mount bracket - 12321-74190 (discontinued) so get used or make sure transmission comes with one
Left transmission mount bracket - 12325-74120 (discontinued) so get used or make sure transmission comes with one
Shifter fork - 31204-32010 (For 01/1990-06/1990 s54 transmissions) (discontinued)
Shifter fork - 31204-20100 (For 06/1990-06/1995 s54 transmissions)
Support/pivot for shifter fork - 31236-30030 (For 01/1990-05/1990 s54 transmissions)
Support/pivot for shifter fork - 31236-32010 (For 05/1990-06/1995 S54 transmissions)
Clutch slave cylinder - Aisin CRT031 for 91 s54 transmission or Aisin CRT090 for S54 transmissions from 02/1992 and onwards
Clutch slave cylinder bracket with clutch lines - get used
Clutch pedal - get used or a new one from MR2 Heaven
Manual brake pedal - get used
Manual transmission shift lever assembly - get used
Manual transmission 93+ shift lever - 33503-17110
Clutch master cylinder - 31410-17100 (discontinued) however lots of aftermarket options, I can't recommend one since I used a used OEM one.
Shifter cables - get used or from MR2 Heaven
Clutch line that goes from clutch master cylinder to union - 31481-17080 (discontinued) so get used or a stainless steel braided hardline from Prime MR2 that replaces both clutch lines and union.
Clutch line union - 90412-12034
Clutch line that goes from union, runs underneath vehicle and makes its way towards rear of vehicle - 31489-17020 (discontinued) so get used or a stainless steel braided hardline from Prime MR2 that replaces both clutch lines and union.
Clutch kit I used - Aisin CKT-027 (includes clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and clutch alignment tool)
Flywheel I used - Perfection Clutch 50108
Flywheel bolts - 90105-10071 (x8)
Pressure plate bolts - 90119-08026 (x6)
Shifter cables clips (90468-14016) (x2) reuse the 2 from the automatic shifter cable and get 2 more for the manual ones to have 4 in total
Washer that holds shifter cable to shifter assembly - 90201-10042
Clip that holds shifter cable to shifter assembly - 90468-14017
Nut that holds shifter cable to shifter assembly - M8x1.25 nut
Manual shifter cables grommet - 90480-01550 (discontinued) so get one used or drill another hole to automatic shifter cable grommet
Center console trim piece - 58821-17030
Shift boot for 93+ shift lever and knob - 58808-17031-C0
