One of the most classic pieces in the entire piano repertoire! And in fact, the earliest piece of music I remember hearing. Here is a short story about why this piece is extra special to me.
I started piano lessons a month after turning 12. My mom gave me a Chopin album to inspire practice. When I heard the E major part of this scherzo at 4:33, I immediately felt the deepest sense of nostalgia I have ever experienced. I told my mom “I think I have heard this before” and she said… “You have!” In fact, when I was pregnant with you, I played this album over 1,000 times!
But here’s the catch! As soon as I was born, she didn’t listen to it anymore. It was a pregnancy craving that she lost the desire for postpartum. So that proves that babies do in fact develop memories even inside the womb! Now there is an argument for prolife you won't hear every day. ;)
That is a large reason why I used this is the final and main track of my album “Memory Vol. 1”. Though I didn’t learn this piece until 2022-23, it was an early memory of mine from the beginning of my piano journey- before I was born.
