Located on Highway 50 near beautiful Tahoe, CA is one of the biggest cascading waterfalls in the USA! Horsetail Falls is an 800ft waterfall tucked between granite mountains in Northern California. The hike up to the waterfall is about 3 miles round trip (via Pyramid Creek Trail) with over 1,000 feet in elevation gain. Weather and skill permitting, you can climb an additional .4 miles up some large boulders to reach Avalanche Lake.
Whether it is summer, spring, winter, or fall - these views make the hike worth it!
