ENGLISH: Monte Gordo is a town and a “freguesia” (parish) of the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, in the southeastern corner of Algarve, Portugal. The population in 2011 was 3,308, in an area of 4.22 km2. Formerly a fishermen's town, Monte Gordo's economy is nowadays oriented to tourism due to its sunny weather, long white sand beaches, trails in the surrounding pine woods, sand dunes, and the daily availability of fresh seafood gathered by the local artisan fishermen.
PORTUGUÊS: Monte Gordo é uma freguesia portuguesa do município de Vila Real de Santo António, com 4,12 km² de área e 3.308 habitantes (2011). A sua densidade populacional é de 802,9 hab/km², o que lhe permite ser classificada como uma Área de Baixa Densidade (portaria 1467-A/2001). Foi elevada a vila em 12 de Junho de 2001.
