PCOS Advocacy Day 2023

Today is the day it’s PCOS advocacy day!!! Today everywhere advocates are fighting for better funding for PCOS research and recognition of this disorder that is a total body disruptor Polycystic, ovarian syndrome a.k.a. PCOS is a serious, genetic hormone metabolic and reproductive disorder that affects individuals like me and my patients. PCOS can lead to lifelong complications like infertility, anxiety, depression, and other psychosocial disorders, obesity, severe hair and skin issues. Endometrial cancer & type, two diabetes, cardiovascular disease, stroke, non-fatty liver disease and other life-threatening conditions

PCOS at this time affects 10 to 15% of individuals assigned female at birth. PCOS patients are two times more likely to be hospitalized because of comorbidities and 50% of PCOS patients are you going undiagnosed or
Misdiagnosed . Other impacts include a $15 billion economic burden of out of network cost across the PCOS community. It’s one of the leading causes for infertility in families TTC and it’s associated with increased risk of gestational, diabetes, preeclampsia, pregnancy induced, hypertension, preterm delivery, cesarean, delivery, miscarriage and fetal and infant death. Approximately 50% of PCOS patients are diabetic before the age of 40 and these patients are 2 to 6 times more likely to develop endometrial cancer. 200,000 or more excess number of stroke cases attributed to PCOS each year.
