The was the last operating mining ropeway in the UK, located at Hanson Brick, Claughton, Near Lancaster, Lancashire, England, UK.
Vintage mono-cable ropeway used to transport clay. Built by the British Ropeway Company in 1926. A second ropeway (1/4 mile west) was closed in 1990, but the support towers are still visible.
Poma of France were consulted about the construction of a replacement system in 2006.
Sadly, Hanson abandoned operations in 2007 and the ropeway was mothballed. Campaigners are attempting to restore the ropeway back to working order to prevent it from decaying to the point of dismantling on health and safety grounds, as of 2014.
