"A native of Yerevan, Armenia, Apo Sarkissian began his musical training in that city studying violin and composition. At the age of 16 he came to the United States. Within two years he organized the Sevan Armenian Band which came to be very popular on the East Coast of the U.S. among the American-Armenian public.

Apo Sarkissian's 1975 tour of South America proved very successful and introduced his new sound and poetic style to the South American Armenians. The lyrics and composition of Apo's Armenian songs are of the contemporary Western European style. His songs are universal in their appeal because of the universal nature of the subject matter.

This new recording entitled "Gisherain Serenad" features the original compositions of Apo Sarkissian. In several compositions Apo has his talented brother Sako Sarkissian as a collaborator. Sako's versatility in mastering many musical instruments has contributed greatly to the creation of this album." - Alex O. Aliksanyan
