Sri Ramana Maharshi, the Sage of Arunachala, is one of the most luminous voices of Advaita Vedānta in the modern era. Born in 1879 in Tamil Nadu, India, he attained spontaneous Self-realization at the age of sixteen and later settled at the sacred hill Arunachala, where seekers from all over the world came to sit in his silent presence. His central teaching — ātma-vicāra, or Self-inquiry — is a direct path to realizing the Self, the ever-present Reality beyond mind and form.
