WoT 1 Cast

Here is a slideshow of actors/actresses I would choose to play the roles of the main characters in WoT1: Eye of the World. Check back for more, I'll be doing one for each book/movie!

1. Rand al'Thor - Hayden Christensen
Very hard to work out... But I think he can do the stubborn, the royal and the tortured look all pretty well.
2. Matrim Cauton - Henry Cavill
Mainly because he has the best mischievous look ever.
3. Perrin Aybara - James Franco
The large man with the curly hair and the difficulties accepting his faith. He can do a great tortured look as well.
4. Egwene al'Vere - Evangeline Lilly
Because she is pretty and she looks just like I imagined her to be.
5. Nynaeve al'Meara - Natalie Portman
She's slightly older than the others, small and beautiful, but also very capable of looking dangerous.
6. Tam al'Thor - Tommy Lee Jones
Because he can pull off the concerned, fatherly look and the mysterious, experienced warrior look.
7. Abell Cauton - Bruce Willis
He looks pretty mischievous as well. I don't have any other really good reasons, I don't have a picture in my head of what Abell looks like.
8. Moiraine Damodred - Diane Lane
Beautiful, long dark hair, small, age hard to determine, even without computer editing. She can look friendly and pretty, but also mysterious and dangerous like an Aes Sedai.
9. al'Lan Mandragoran - Clive Owen
A face carved out of stone, the silent and the brooding, the tall and muscular man behind Moiraine. No one else could play this part.
10. Tom Merrillin - Sam Elliott
I knew I had to pick him when I watched the Golden Compass. He just looks the part already and he can be funny and entertaining, but also a dangerous fighter and wise counsellor.
11. Padan Fain - Robert Knepp
I doubted about Fain a lot, also considering Buscemi. But I am very impressed with Knepp's Prison Break crazy, so I chose him over someone very well-known and famous.
12. Min Farshaw - Rachel Leigh Cook
She looks gorgeous with short hair, though she might be a little to feminine to be dressed like a boy. But that's a nice paradox, she can't escape her true life, right?
13. Geofram Bornhald - Dennis Quaid
He's a hard, tough man, but he can also show a human side. He can also put some true sadness on his face, as if he's disappointed in this dark world... :)
14. Jaret Byar - Chris Cooper
Not so human as Quaid, which is good, because Byar never shows feelings and never acts human. He has the cold, uninterested look of this character.
15. Mordeth - Brad Dourif
He'll have to gain some weight, but he'll do great. He can really freak you out, not just in LotR, but also in this one other movie I saw. He's just great as a scary bad guy.
16. Baile Domon - Kevin R. Mcnally
A little distrust and a true captain, always thinking on business, but a good man with compassion and a strong sense of justice underneath. You can even see it in this picture, can't you? :)
17. Elyas Machera - Viggo Mortensen
The perfect wanderer in the wild. He has the wild, bitter but not entirely humourless look I would want for Elyas.
18. Basell Gil - John C. Reilly
A real innkeeper, a little fat and a friendly face. But I think he can pull off Gills nervousness and fear of something bad happening to his inn as well.
19. Logain Ablar - Christian Bale
Tall, dark and handsome, and a good example of the desperate, dark and dangerous look of a man who has just lost his magic powers.
20. Elayne Trakand - Jaime King
Not really an epic actress, but she has the right age and the royal, strong but youthful look and the long reddish golden hair. She's really beautiful.
21. Gawyn Trakand - Ashton Kutcher
Please don't kill me. I found this one the hardest to pick. But there is so much fun and up-to-no-good in Ashton's face, I think he could do it - also pulling off the reddish golden hair and the regal look.
22. Galad Damodred - Ben Barnes
So... the most handsome guy you can think of, right? He'll do great on the whole sense of duty and honor thing too, but that's just an aside...
23. Morgase Trakand - Michelle Pfeiffer
Aged, but beautiful, strict and regal, but also a mother. Only one option.
24. Elaida a'Rohain - Helen Mirren
A very cold, strict, feeling-less and dangerous Aes Sedai-look. Not beautiful, but pretty, or the other way around, how Jordan always puts it. :)
25. Garet Brin - Sean Connery
The loyal, strong, authorative army leader who is secretly in love with the queen (right?). He can be a really charismatic leader, but also man of feelings. If he tries hard. I chose him mainly for his tough, older but handsome looks.
