The remains of Sergeant Gordon Tumuramye, a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) officer who was killed on October 30, 2025, in Singo, Nakaseke District, were on Thursday evening laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kamusiza Trading Centre, Kitunga, Kashambya Sub-county, Rukiga District.
Sergeant Tumuramye, who was reportedly shot dead by yet-to-be-identified assailants for reasons still unknown, was accorded full military honors, including a three-gun salute. Delivering a condolence message on behalf of the UPDF’s Directorate of Human Resource Management, Major Gerald Bigirwa described the fallen soldier as a gallant, selfless, and hardworking officer whose dedication to duty will be deeply missed.
During the funeral service, Ven. Christopher Masheija, Archdeacon of Kantare Archdeaconry, together with Michael Kwarikunda Mbareeba, Rukiga District LC5 Chairperson candidate, condemned the brutal killing, calling it a tragic and senseless act.
