Around 1972, my parents owned the nightclub in Blackpool, The Lemon Tree. They had a very good band there, led by a guitarist called Tony Williams. He had been in an amazing 1960s pop group called Stealers Wheel. My mother started writing songs with him, and in 1972, fifty three years ago, they entered the song into the Gibraltar song festival, which actually came quite high in the results. It was called IT FELL TO PIECES. She also wrote seven other songs with him. After her death, I obtained acetates of some of them. One song which which my mother wrote, called SOON AFTER THE RAIN, showed great potential. So we have completely re-recorded it, over six years after her death, to give her something to be remembered by. To me it sounds like a Dusty Springfield song. I am so honoured and delighted to be able to bring this to my fans. Over 51 years I have built up my own beautiful career in music, but now, for the first time, here is the artistry of my mother. I hope that people like it. I want her to be remembered because she was talented.
