A few somewhat random, short excerpts from Maarika Autio's solo recital "Approcreations" in Musiikkitalo, Helsinki, Finland. The concert constituted the first component of her artistic doctorate in Sibelius Academy's MuTri doctoral department. No pre-recorded elements were included: all the music and accompanying background loops were produced live on the stage with the balafon. Compositions, lyrics, arrangements as well as backdrop graphic arts by Maarika.
This piece, the Loon, is dedicated to my late mother.
