Welcome to my first vlog! Join me on an exciting day trip exploring two iconic landmarks of Odisha: the mighty Hirakud Dam and the sacred Maa Samaleswari Temple in Sambalpur.
Hirakud Dam
Hirakud Dam, the world's longest earthen dam at 25.8 km across the Mahanadi River, creates India's largest artificial lake spanning 743 sq km with a 639 km shoreline. Completed in 1957, it supports flood control, irrigation for 1.35 million acres, and hydroelectric power generation up to 48 MW. Climb Gandhi Minar or Jawahar Minar for stunning panoramic views of the vast reservoir—perfect for epic drone shots and sunset vibes!
Maa Samaleswari
TemplePerched on the Mahanadi River banks, this ancient 16th-17th century shrine honors Goddess Samaleswari, revered as Mahalaxmi and Adishakti by locals. Built with durable granite-like stone, the temple features Badagudi (main sanctum) and Sanagudi (mandap) sections with idols of Ganesha and other deities facing the central granite face of Maa Samalei. Feel the spiritual energy during rituals like Pitabali worship, a must-visit for its rich history and vibrant festivals.
