Little Cabbage (1997)
variation for erhu (Chinese violin) and string quartet
Little Cabbage is a Chinese folklore song that tells the unfortunate tale of a young girl's
misfortune. The song is constructed in six measures and each measure is the object of a
variation. The theme does not appear until the end.
Commissioned by the Association des Amis de la Musique (Switzerland).
