Disclaimer - I goofed and cheated. I'll explain in a bit.
Stay to the very end for both endings and a post-credit easter egg scene.
It's an odd one out of the initial wave of JP games in that it's a point and click. It, theoretically, was probably the best possible way to present the JP franchise to computers and home consoles. It has its bright spots and its presentation is actually quite good despite how it looks at first. Actually, if I had this on the Sega CD in 1994 hooked up to a good media center, I would probably have good memories of this. I was a Nintendo kid, though.
The big problem with the game is that, being a CD "multimedia" title, it loves to take its sweet time getting to the point. So if you die...you take a long time getting back to where you were. Thankfully, you're encouraged to save often and this isn't the kind of game you're expected to beat in one go. Still...
So about the cheating. At the very end, I didn't have enough ammo. The quickest solution was to just show the loss and get back into it via the debug option. The final "boss" mob left bme scratching my head a bit. I know there were some areas I didn't explore, but even if I were to get more ammo, it would have been one difficult fight. You do get to kind of know how to prevent some damage, but there is some unpredictability in the last two enemies. Cheating is actually built into the game in one place. There is a way to score infinite gas ammo in Muldoon's office. I didn't exploit this, but I wish I did.
