Suggestion :
1. Make your Refuge reservation 6 months in advance.
2. Since the parking in Les Houches is busy in summer season. If you plan to drive from Chamonix to Les Houches, suggest you go for site visit in the afternoon on the day before you start the journey.
3. Optional : Buy a Refuge Passport ( $2 Euro) from the First refuge you stay. Which help you to record the refuges that you have visited during the trip. For your good memory in the future 😄
10/8/2023 Journey Started
13c chill morning at the beginning.
Feel hot on the way, temperature rose to 26c In the afternoon.
I pass by 3-5 water fountains on this route.
If you dont mind to drink the water from the fountains, It could save at least 1 kg for your rug sack. As you don’t have to carry 2-3 liter to walk.
Although 18km 960m uphill. But not very hard than I expect.
Day 1 route reached Peak master:
Cols De France - Col de Voza
*** I blessed the weather was extremely good of my journey. The temperature was between 12c - 27c (30c in the mid-day sometime) most of the time but I still carry an insulate legging, light dove jacket and wind breaker for 11 days. Stay on the mountain in the evening was like in the other season ***
