We set out to explore California Pass in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado — and the scenery left us absolutely speechless. Towering snow-capped peaks, alpine meadows bursting with wildflowers, and narrow 4x4 shelf roads carved into the mountainside made this one of the most breathtaking drives we’ve ever experienced.
While California Pass isn’t the most technical off-road trail in Colorado, its sheer exposure and jaw-dropping views make it unforgettable. From the historic ghost town of Animas Forks to the summit at nearly 13,000 feet, this journey feels like driving through another world.
Next up, we’ll be taking on the legendary Engineer Pass — but for now, join us as we push our rigs across some of the most iconic overlanding routes in the San Juan Mountains.
