Continuing with my September Wisconsin adventure series, I hiked Natural Bridge State Park, a 530-acre natural wonder featuring the state's largest natural sandstone arch. This day-use park offers nearly 4 miles of wooded hiking trails, perfect for those seeking a scenic outdoor adventure. We'll explore the Indian Moccasin Trail, a 1-mile loop that takes you to the impressive Natural Bridge, a geological formation weathered over time. We'll also wander the Whitetail Trail, where you'll experience diverse landscapes of oak woods, prairie, and open fields.
The park has a rich history, including the Raddatz Rockshelter, a significant archaeological site directly beneath the arch. This rock shelter, once used by Paleo-Indians, is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. To protect this fragile environment, climbing on the arch and entering the shelter are prohibited.
Before your visit, remember that Natural Bridge State Park is a rustic experience. Picnic tables, water, and restrooms are unavailable, so come prepared with proper footwear, water, and any essentials you'll need for your hike.
Thanks for watching, and make sure to join us on our next adventure!
