Dental fear and anxiety affects about a quarter of the population, and prevents many from getting the care they need and deserve. This talk aims to cover strategies we can employ to prevent the formation of dental fear and tackle it if it already exists. Dentists and patients can work together to develop a dental visit plan to reduce dental fear and thus improve access to care. Gabriella Blazquez is a third-year dental student at the University of Connecticut who is perusing a specialty in endodontics. She is passionate about providing care to patients in underserved communities, including those with dental fear and anxiety. In her spare time, she enjoys watching old films, trying new recipes, and hiking with her two dogs, Loch and Nessa.
