I stumbled upon street musician Zhuang Shizong at the Beitou MRT station on 7/8/12. Set up next to the main entrance of the station, Mr. Zhuang sang and backed up the melody simultaneously. He seemed to really enjoy himself and wore a great big smile on his face. I got chatty with him. He told me that he recently closed up his business. In his retirement, he picked up the violin. He said he always enjoyed singing as a kid. He performed a special number "燒肉粽" (translated "Hot Taiwanese Tamale"), a classic Taiwanese pop song (Taiyuge) first released in 1949. Zhuang told me that this was one of his favorite tunes.
