How a giant Ravensburger map of the world nearly did my head in... and what I did to overcome it!

Hi, I'm John and welcome to The Jigsaw Puzzler. Today it's definitely a challenging puzzle: the 2000 piece "Map of the World from 1650", from Ravensburger.

In this video, I look at the detailed map, along with the twenty-two illustrations which decorate its border. The map shows the known world in 1650 - plus a few imagined lands which don't actually exist! Across the top and bottom edges are personifications of the seven planets (moon, Mercury, Venus, the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn), the seven wonders of the ancient world (the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Pyramids of Giza, the Colossus of Rhodes, the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, the statue of Zeus at Olympus, the Pharos at Alexandria, and the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. Down the sides are the four elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air) and the four seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter). This puzzle took me approximately 10 hours to complete, over three days. In this video I reveal my tips and strategies for tackling a busy but enjoyable 2000-piece jigsaw puzzle.
