This one has been a long time coming. She has been talking about finding and descending another serious shaft for months, so when I discovered this one, completely unmarked and unknown to surveys, I knew I had to bring her back out to the desert to uncover the secrets of its depths. I think it's safe to say hers was the first wheelchair to ever come down that shaft. Judging from the construction, we think this mine was abandoned in the 70s, but there were signs that it was first worked much earlier than that. I would have loved to have seen the headframe while it was still standing.
