Morris Chang created the world's first dedicated silicon foundry, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, or TSMC. For this and other achievements he has been named a Stanford Engineering Hero. At a celebration co-organized by the Global Semiconductor Alliance, Chang, who holds a Stanford Ph.D., speaks about how creating the foundry industry spawned hundreds of fabless semiconductor companies.
