In Taiwan, more than 700,000 migrant workers support elder care and key industries—yet public understanding often remains superficial. Over a decade of work, Kai-Hsiang Chen learned that change begins with small daily acts—listening, understanding, and walking alongside one another. Through education and cultural exchange, he has seen both Taiwanese communities and migrant workers open new possibilities for their own futures. When we choose to reach out, the change doesn’t stop with individuals—it reshapes society itself.

Kai-Hsiang Chen, founder of One-Forty, an organization dedicated to migrant worker education. With a mission grounded in altruism, he focuses on the “1 in 40” Southeast Asian migrant workers in Taiwan. Combining business management expertise with social innovation, he and his team have empowered more than 8,000 migrant workers and introduced new storytelling mediums that challenge public stereotypes. He believes that education is the most valuable investment—one that transforms individual futures and helps Taiwan grow into a welcoming, multicultural society.
