BMW 330i Valve Cover Replacement DIY (2019-Present BMW G20 330i, G22 430i, G42 230i)

►BMW's B48 engine integrates its PCV system into the valve cover. This makes for an effective and compact design, but it requires replacing the valve cover when the PCV fails. A failed PCV causes excess pressure in the crankcase and an increase in oil consumption. The valve cover itself can also harden and leak oil at higher mileage, forcing you to replace it.

Your PCV and valve cover should at least get you to the 80,000-mile mark without presenting much of an issue. From there on, oil leaks can form from a worn valve cover gasket. Driving around with a leaking valve cover won't kill the engine as long as you keep the oil topped up. However, replacing leaking oil costs you money, so replacing the valve cover as soon as possible is in your best interest.
