We're Moving to France: The BEST (and WORST) Ways to Learn French

Learning a new language is hard at any age. Unless you’re a toddler, then your brain just soaks up absolutely anything and everything. With so many options available for learning French, we thought we'd share with you some methods we've tried that have worked for us, and some that have bored us to death. However, there is one way we've not tried. We’ve heard people speak of learning French to be somewhat relatively easy due to the many similar words it shares with the English language. I don’t know who originally said this, but though there are “some” similar words, I cannot confidently say it’s easy to learn because of the similarities. As Americans, with English being widely spoken in numerous countries, we become dependent that when going to a different country, we can feel confident we will find others with whom we can comfortably communicate, and get by well enough. However, to properly integrate ourselves in France and build relationships with the locals, it’s important to us not to just get by, but to excel. So, we’re going back to school and we’re learning French. Wish us all the luck!
