Oru Kayak How To: Safely Navigating Shipping Lanes in a Kayak

We all want to have fun out on the water whether it’s kayaking, paddle boarding, or any activity that takes place out on the water so today we asked Jeff to talk to us about navigating through boat traffic. It’s important to know where shipping lanes are by locating them by their buoys or on a chart.

Jeff explains how you always want to cross through a shipping lane and never paddle inside of it. Another important thing to remember is that even though a boat looks like it’s far away it’s traveling at a high speed so if it’s close do not try to get ahead of it just let it pass and then cross safely.
