In this first episode, I sit down with three brothers from the same family who share remarkably similar professional journeys in the United States. Modou Lamin Njie (Pabi/Mo), the eldest, served in the U.S. Marine Corps; Ousman Njie, the youngest, served in the U.S. Air Force; and Alie Njie is currently on active duty and stationed in Japan.
We explore their upbringing in The Gambia, the values that have kept them deeply connected as brothers, and the factors that influenced each of them to join the U.S. military. The conversation also touches on the mental and physical challenges they faced, the life-changing opportunities military service has provided, and the ethical and moral questions they continue to navigate in both their personal and professional lives.
