In this video, I will cover different methods to design a connection in RAM Connection standalone version. In the last part, I covered how we can provide basic joint data and load information to design a connection using basic or smart connection template. In this video, we will explore these two modules, followed by a detail discussion on how we can use a specific template for connection design, it might be a standard template from any country database or a custom company specific template.
For any steel structure, connections are the most vulnerable part, and we need to design these properly considering all factors and check whether it can withstand the critical most loading condition. For any industrial or commercial steel building, like a plant or pipe rack structure, or a PEB warehouse, there are thousands of connections which we need to design, including member to member, bracing or base plate connection. To design any connection, we require the geometric data – like section information, orientation, spacing along with the load data, or member end forces. Based on this, connection design is performed.
