RAW POV Shooting Pipeline | SURF PHOTOGRAPHY

Rumor at the Pipeline is that you like it RAW. You've heard of This is Livin with my long lost second cousins cousin twice removed, but this is Shootin' RAW, like super RAW. No JPEGS. EVER!!!

Okay, less shit-hausery and f*cking around, I have so many people ask me what shooting Pipeline is like. How is it? Is it scary? How do you not die? What gear do you have? Oh wow, it's just you in fins and a camera that floats, how do you do that, etc.....

After editing and re-watching, I fully understand that this video may be a bit over the head knowledge wise for people and I did my best to explain why I do what I do out there. Along with how a day shooting on the North Shore of Oahu goes with rapidly changing conditions. I know for a fact, that 10 years ago when I started shooting Pipeline, I would've loved to have someone tell me how things worked out there in a more coherent way other than random nuggets of information and a lot of hard yards figuring it out. Unlike the American healthcare system, I want to be preventative, rather than reactive and I think videos like this will help others wanting to shoot Pipeline, see how it really is.

Noteworthy: It may not seem that hectic for me out there, but I've been doing this for 10 years. The last two hours of the session, I stopped recording on the GoPro because I thought it'd get ripped off and lost forever with all of the Third Reef sets wiping out the lineup constantly + crazy current.
