✓ It's that eagerly anticipated time of the year again, it's "INDIAN MANGO SEASON" again. Can you believe that a year has passed so quickly.

It seems like only yesterday that I last recorded these guys, here's a link to last years video:

At this time of the year we don't really bother with shopping around, we head straight to The Mango Masters of London, these guys are the "King of Exotic Fruits" located in the "Desi" part of London (Kenton and Kingsbury).

In this video, look out for the family who buy 45 Kesar mango boxes (that's well over 500 pieces) they were gifting the mangos.

The sublime Indian Alphonso and Kesar Mangoes are the "King of Mangoes" - they have a very short shelf life once they are ripe (so have to be exported whilst unripe). They are also some of the worlds most expensive and sought after kinds of mango and are grown mainly in Western India.

Highly prized are the variety of Alphonso (A.K.A. Hapoos हापूस) ) from the Ratnagiri region of India.

This high grade variety of mango has a very short season of about 2 months from the beginning of May up to around the end of June; but is well worth seeking out due to the very sweet & almost fibreless nature of this fruit.

This is Mother Natures original "Indian Street Food".

This year (2021) the Alphonso & Kesar prices in London are eye wateringly expensive due to the Covid-19 Corona Virus. Sellers are saying that the cost of airfreight has tripled, hence the cost of a box of 12 Hapus is between £16.00 to £22.00 here in the UK (depending on the size, variety of mango)

On the day of our visit the price of the mangos were:

Large King Size Kesar Mango: £17.00 per 4kg box or 2 boxes for £33.00

Medium Size Kesar Mango: £16.00 per 3kg box or 2 boxes for £30.00

Hapus Mango: £19.00 per box or 2 boxes for £36.00
