You were in the city for a brief job, and thus you had to rent a room in a hotel within the city. Most of the available hotels were pricey. Way too pricey for you. You were about to give up and seek assistance from one of your friends when you found a postcard in the mail. It was a promotional piece of material announcing the recent opening of a new hotel in a legendary old manor. You were skeptical, so you looked it up. This manor was indeed opened up as a new hotel, and the rooms were all rather cheap. Most of them were available too. So, that's where you went. You decided to enter the hotel and ask one of the employees if the rooms were indeed that cheap. To your astonishment, they were! So you rented one, and gathered your things for a brief stay. You were handed an old, brass key with your room number embossed on it. The place was rather luxurious, and you wondered exactly why the rooms were so cheap. You briefly wondered if there were insect issues or some other slightly harmful reason why the rooms were listed as cheap as they were. On your way up the stairs, it struck you as curious that you were the only person around. Usually there would be people around in the lobby and going to and from the various floors. Not so here. It was dead quiet as you walked the hall towards your room. And as your feet shuffled through the soft, old carpet, it felt even more quiet as you reached your room. Turning the key into the lock and opening it, you pulled the key out and entered the room, closing the door behind you. The room was... far more luxurious than you had initially expected. The bed was covered in a white sheet with roses printed on it. And it had bedposts, and purple bedcurtains. You did the usual checks. The sheets were clean, and smelled fresh. The furniture was pristine, with not a single speck of dust to be seen. Despite this, the second the door closed behind you, you got the distinct impression that someone was watching you. However, the room was comfortable. You got settled in quickly. The room was lavish. Incredibly so. You got hungry, and you decided it was time to go downstairs for dinner. However, you realized that the door was locked! Your heart hammering, you grab your things and you attempt to do everything in your power to get the door open.
