Monday mornings in the shop always start a little rough, but once the coffee kicks in and the engines start firing, the day finds its rhythm. This week was no exception. We rolled open the doors, and right there in the square body room, the first thing catching everyone’s eye was the mega truck—back home after spending the weekend at a charity burn camp event for kids. Parked out on Route 10, it drew nonstop attention, phone calls, and messages from folks who had spotted it. Hopefully, it helped raise a pile of money for a great cause.
A Lineup Worth Stopping For
Mike had the wreckers lined up, everything from heavy snatch trucks to recovery rigs, making for a sight that stopped people in their tracks. We’ll be pulling out the six-door soon, and yes—we owe you all a full walkaround and driving video. It’s been sitting too long without proper coverage.
Alvin did some shop cleanup recently, so things are looking sharper inside. We’ve had a lot of questions after posting our tire video—if you’re after takeoffs or oversized rubber, that’s worth checking out. And the robot? Everyone asks about it. Remote-controlled, slick to operate, and more than just a repo toy—it can squeeze into tight parking decks and places a wrecker can’t reach. We’ll get AJ and Raymond to demo it properly soon.
Square Bodies in Progress
Out front, the ’80 square body with its unique black, silver, and charcoal scheme is taking shape. Hood stripes tie the look together in a way you wouldn’t expect, but it works. Still plenty of off-road shop work ahead before it’s finished.
Then there’s the big Sterling, which never fails to stop visitors in their tracks. Inside, it’s got a maroon interior with OBS-style seats and an old-school stereo setup—an unusual mix, but it feels right.
We also just unloaded a customer’s ATV for some maintenance. He’s been putting it to hard farm use, and when he mentioned a rare Terra Pro three-wheeler, we couldn’t say no to helping bring it back to life. Bonus: we’ve got a few surprises planned for him that he doesn’t know about yet.
His square body is nearly finished—just waiting on a signal lever replacement and a proper spare tire mount. Since the dual exhaust takes up the under-bed space, we’re mounting the spare inside old-school style, complete with a cover to keep it clean. That truck also got a new carb, replacing the old Quadrajet that never quite behaved. Now it fires like a dream.
The Details Matter
Fresh two-tone paint, new moldings, custom exhaust, spray-in liner, trailer brake setup, full A/C system—the works. We’ve hit every little detail the customer asked for. Same goes for side steps, hitch setup, and interior tweaks.
One debate still on the table: spray the inside of the bed sides to match the floor liner, or leave the bright orange steel exposed with a rubber mat laid down? Personally, I think the mat keeps it simple and shows off the quality of the restoration, but we’ll let you guys weigh in.
Another square just wrapped up got a fresh dash, new door panels, tight seat covers, and a spray liner. The customer wanted a mounted fire extinguisher inside—done. This one’s a diesel military truck, complete with paperwork we discovered under the seats, rifle mount still in place, and all the rugged details that make these rigs so fun.
Old Friends & New Finds
Across the lot, a ’66 C10 is about to go live. I’ve got a soft spot for these—it reminds me of the short-bed my dad built when I was younger. This one’s been in familiar circles, bouncing from a buddy of mine to one of my dad’s friends, and now back in our hands. With air conditioning, EFI, a 700R4, and a dressed-up wood bed floor, it’s got all the right upgrades. I want to park it next to my dad’s old ’62 for a proper comparison.
Meanwhile, the Quigley van has been stealing attention. A V10-powered, four-wheel-drive Ford with just 43,000 miles, clean rockers, and factory conversion paperwork. No rust, no abuse—just begging for an overland camper conversion or some Outer Banks beach duty. We’ll clean it, detail it, and it’ll be ready to roll. Vans like this don’t pop up every day.
Big Blocks & Rare Builds
Another customer’s big-block K30 is wrapping up with headers, exhaust, retro stereo, goose-neck hitch, and a fresh over-the-rail liner. Dropped it onto Toyos and polished wheels—it’s looking the part.
And then there’s the Sierra Classic short-bed conversion. Originally a one-ton long bed, someone had the guts to cut it down and do the job right. Big block, billet interior touches, cowl hood, spray liner, and rare Weld wheels. It’s got character for days. We cleaned up the wiring, straightened out the lighting, and now it’s nearly ready for a proper showcase.
