Video of Pascack Valley Line Train 2117, the one of two weekend Metro North Express trains between Hoboken and Spring Valley. These trains stop at Secaucus Junctions and along the New York State stops of the Pascack Valley Line: Pearl River, Nanuet, and Spring Valley. These stations are also all maintained by Metro-North. In addition, service to the New York State is provided under contract with Metro-North Railroad. It is one of two lines with this arrangement, the other being the Port Jervis Line.
The train on this day was led by EMD GP40PH-2B Locomotive 4206. This locomotive dates to the 1960s, and has operated in service on NJ Transit's predecessors such as Conrail and Penn Central. While there is rolling stock in the MTA scheme, any and all trains running on diesel power from the Hoboken Division are used on the Pascack Valley Line. Conversely, the MTA schemed rolling stock can appear on any of NJ Transit's lines out of Hoboken. Large swaths of the line north of Secaucus is single tracked.
A rundown of the video will be provided soon.
