New 2022 DS4 E-Tense - Wow Hatchback!

This is the all-new 2022 DS4 E-Tense plug-in hybrid PHEV hatchback. Checkout its interior and exterior design, features and driving in this video.

The DS 4’s sculpted interior helps give it a real premium feel, making it a good – if pricey –alternative to the usual family car suspects. Cross Rivoli builds on the Cross Trocadero trim by adding a black leather interior, matrix LED headlights, semi-autonomous driving, adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert and dark tinted rear windows.

1.6 E-Tense Plug-in Hybrid with 221bhp, the E-Tense feels especially brisk, going from 0-60mph in 7.7sec, which is almost one second faster than the BMW 1 Series 118i M Sport. On top of the extra pace, the E-Tense also boasts an official electric-only range of 38miles and low CO2 emissions.

At first glance, the model range DS offers seems a bit confusing. It’s split into three ‘Style Treatments’, named DS 4, Performance Line and Cross, and each of those have either two or three trim lines within them.

When you take a deeper look, it's not actually as complex as at first glance. Put simply, DS 4 is the core car, Performance Line is more sports focused and Cross brings a taste of SUV style.

There are five engines to choose from, including 129bhp PureTech 130, 178bhp PureTech 180 and 220bhp PureTech 225 petrols and a 129bhp diesel (badged BlueHDi 130).

There's also a 221bhp plug-in hybrid E-Tense 225 that can do shorter journeys on electric power alone, cutting your overall CO2 emissions. Every version comes fitted with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

This luxury-focused car is an alternative to the BMW 1 Series and Mercedes A-Class can be yours from £25,350. Deliveries are already started.

Moving up to a Performance Line car with the same engine will set you back £26,850. This adds a sportier-looking body kit, as well as 19-inch alloy wheels plus Alcantara interior trimmings.

Much like the exterior, the DS 4 looks very posh inside. A digital display sits in place of traditional dials and gauges to give you key information and there’s a 10-inch infotainment display sitting in the centre of the dash. You get a head-up display that projects info on the windscreen for you, too.

You get a new five-inch touchscreen in the centre console that can be used to control the DS 4’s main system and driving modes.

The interior itself is laden in leather, with a rather eye-catching brown and white combination in the car shown here. You can even choose between a few different options, including ash brown wood and forged carbon, along with leather or suede-like Alcantara seat trim.

In terms of practicality, the DS 4 has an impressive 430 litres of boot space. That’s a huge leap up from the old car’s 380 litres, which incidentally is the same figure the current BMW 1 Series offers.

You’ll have a choice of three trims for the DS 4, including entry-level cars, Cross versions and Performance Line models.
