THE LOVE OF GOD - MY GREATEST ASSET - Pastor Paul Silway
What is your greatest asset? What do you cherish most?
Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also (Matthew 6:21). Your success in life is determined by your most important asset.
Do you know what my greatest asset is?
The LOVE OF GOD. Let me read to you three scriptures:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life – John 3:16 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things – Romans 8:32 We love Him because He first loved us – I John 4:19 The love of God is the reason I can face tomorrow. I am aware that His love for me will see me through the day. If God did not spare Jesus for the love that He has for us (John 3:16), there is nothing that He will not freely give or do for us (Romans 8:32).
Why the love of God is my greatest asset
1. Fear is destroyed.
When I remember that God loves me and will not allow any evil to come upon me, every form of fear disappears (1 John 4:18). God is the Almighty God and every being and thing bows before Him, including whatever is causing fear in me. God’s love gives me the assurance that I am covered.
2. Peace
Peace floods my mind and spirit when I meditate on my Father’s love for me, no matter the challenge that wants to disturb me (Isaiah 26:3). His love gives me an overcomer’s mentality, which dominates any thought contrary to what God says concerning me in His word.
3. Hope
Sometimes, circumstances around me try to discourage me but when I focus on God’s love for me, I shake off the discouraging thoughts, hope comes alive in me and I remind myself that all things will work together for my own good (Romans 8:28).
This verse is saying no matter what is happening in our life God can turn that bad for your good. Have this consciousness! . It's not God putting the bad things in your life to teach you a lesson. Never think that way. If you think and believe that way then it will take away your resistance. You wont resist, you won't fight any bad thing happening in your life. You will become passive and accept anything that comes against you. Then you may even think that if I resist or fight I will be fighting against God. This is the trick of the devil which has destroyed many people's lives. Whatever you are going through in life; one thing is certain: you’re a victor in Christ Jesus! But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:57).Anything is possible! This should be your mentality. Never think defeat, failure or weakness. Cultivate the winning mentality; the mentality that believes and affirms, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Philippians 4:13). That’s the victor’s mentality, and you develop it through the Word. It doesn’t matter what your life has been like or the experiences you’ve had; one thing is certain: you’re a victor in Christ Jesus! Irrespective of the affliction, tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, destitution, perils, wars etc., that may be ravaging today’s world, you’re more than a conqueror: “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us” (Romans 8:37). Trust the Lord and hold on to His Word. When you go through challenges, don’t complain! The Lord knew there’d be challenges, but He gave us the assurance that we’ll be triumphant always: “2 Corinthians 2:14 says But praise be to God who makes us strong to overcome in Christ, and leads us to victory because of Christ. Your victory is a settled fact.
