Welcome to Frosty Friday, where we show you our favorite laser tattoo removal frosting reactions. So what is frosting? Frosting is the whitening effect that appears immediately after lasering. It happens when the laser interacts with and breaks up the ink particles in your skin. Contrary to what some may think, frosting is not a burn or blister. It is actually water vapor, a byproduct of the laser tattoo removal treatment, and it typically dissipates within 20 minutes.

For this treatment, we had a second laser specialist holding the hose that's connected to our Zimmer cryo-chiller, which blows extremely cold air onto the skin before and during a treatment to help reduce any short-term swelling.

This week’s clip features a client getting the first removal treatment on his entire sleeve. As you may see, we are only treating the inside of this client’s forearm. For large treatments like this, we typically like to break the treatment area into a few discrete sections. This is for the client’s benefit, to ensure that they don’t experience too much discomfort, pain, or swelling during and after treatment. He will come back in just a couple weeks to treat the outside of his forearm. From start to finish, this large treatment took about 6 minutes.

This client is removing a large amount of ink. Fortunately, it is mostly black ink. This is fortunate because black ink is typically the least difficult to remove. The Candela PicoWay’s 1064 wavelength is designed to remove black ink and is safe for all skin types.
