Our First Full Day in Houston Really Surprised Us 🇺🇸

Our first full day in Houston took us everywhere we didn’t expect. We wandered into a gospel church and were swept straight into the music and warmth of the room. One of those moments that tells you what a city is made of.

Cleburne Cafeteria came next. A true Houston institution. After one miscommunication at the counter I ended up with the biggest piece of prime rib I’ve ever seen. A proper Texas welcome.

We finally experienced HEB and understood the hype. Staff who know their stuff. Products that actually feel useful. A supermarket that feels like part of the community.

In West University we slowed down for Tiny’s Milk and Cookies, a quiet neighbourhood and a scoop of ice cream that tasted like childhood done right.

Downtown pulled us in. At POST we took in the view, played gashapon, and soaked up the market energy before walking the city streets.

We finished the night with pints at Pitch 25 and Little Woodrow’s, then Mama Ninfa’s for the original fajitas. Smoke, heat, history on a plate.

Houston showed us its layers. Big flavours, big voices, and a welcome that feels real.
