The South County Bike Path, also know as the William C. O’Neill Bike Path, Rhode Island’s fourth-longest bike path. At 7.8 Miles in length it connects Kingston’s Amtrak Station with the town of Narragansett. The path is largely built on the Fromer right-of-way of the Narragansett Pier Railroad, which dates back to 1876. The railroad ceased operations in the 1960s. The late senator William C. O’Neill was instrumental in advocating for the creation of the bike path. The bike path has built in three phases, the first started in 2000 and it was recently extend beyond Mumford Road to the Narragansett Community Center.
