Cool Choir Improv Activity! Choral Sound Painting! We stumbled on this activity during one of our Dixie State University Women's Chorus warm up sessions. This session could be done with inperson rehearsals or using remote learning. Because time isn't an issue and latency doesn't really affect this activity you can do it in any group. It is also for beginners.

Using a constant
computer-generated
sine tone as “DO,”
The director
or student leader(s)
spontaneously guide
participants in singing
different notes in the diatonic or chromatic scale
using the Curwen
hand signs & Solfege.
This creates an ethereal,
improvisational
moment for choirs.
